WEB APP
UX Result
The redesign of the Move Solutions app significantly improved the efficiency of sensor management, reduced user frustration, and enhanced overall usability. Engineers can now add, configure, and monitor sensors with ease, thanks to a simplified workflow and improved information hierarchy. These changes have led to increased engagement and productivity, reinforcing Move Solutions' role as a leader in structural monitoring solutions.
Project Context
Move Solutions provides a WebApp for real-time structural monitoring, allowing engineers to track the health of bridges, buildings, and other critical infrastructure. However, the existing sensor management process was cumbersome, making it difficult for users to add and configure new sensors efficiently. Additionally, the app's cluttered interface resulted in information overload, making it hard to quickly locate specific sensor details. The goal of this redesign was to enhance usability by simplifying sensor management and optimising information presentation.
Identifying Challenges
A complex and inefficient process for adding and configuring sensors.
A lack of clear visual hierarchy, leading to information overload.
Difficulty in quickly locating and managing previously installed sensors.
Setting Objectives
Introduce intuitive navigation and search capabilities to help engineers find specific sensors more efficiently.
Optimise information presentation to reduce cognitive load and enhance readability.
Research & Insights
Engineers found the existing sensor management process too time-consuming.
The lack of an organised interface made it difficult to track and manage installed sensors.
Users needed a more visual way to understand sensor locations and statuses at a glance.
Design Process
A user-centered design approach was adopted, focusing on improving navigation, search functionality, and data presentation. The redesign introduced several key improvements:
Simplified Sensor Management
A prominent “Add New Sensor” button was introduced, ensuring quick and easy access to the configuration process.
The sensor onboarding flow was restructured to guide users step by step, reducing errors and improving efficiency.
A redesigned search bar and filtering system allow users to locate sensors by type, location, or status.
Optimised Information Presentation
Sensor details are now displayed in easy-to-read product cards, providing key information at a glance.
Visual context was added with images and map previews, allowing users to quickly understand the location and status of each sensor.
Color-coded labels differentiate sensor categories, making it easier to identify relevant information.
Streamlined Editing and Interaction
Users can now modify sensor details directly from the map preview, reducing unnecessary navigations.
The process for configuring new sensors was redesigned to ensure a smoother, more intuitive experience.
Implemented Solutions
A more structured sensor configuration process with clear action steps.
Interactive product cards that present key details in a user-friendly format.
A robust search and filter system that allows engineers to quickly find and manage sensors.
Direct editing capabilities from the map preview to streamline interaction.
Conclusion
The redesigned Move Solutions app has successfully addressed the challenges of sensor management and information overload. By simplifying workflows, enhancing navigation, and improving data visualisation, the platform now offers engineers a more efficient and intuitive experience. These changes have led to better engagement, reduced management time, and a more seamless structural monitoring process, further solidifying Move Solutions’ reputation in the industry.
